January 2010 Issue of Vogue India with Sonam Kapoor who reportedly once weighed 198 pounds (90kg). She is now about 136 pounds (60kg). Something important to note about weight is that it isn’t the weight you should be concentrating on but rather what is healthy for your height and the less than 80cm around the waist rule. Sonam Kapoor, a Bollywood actress, is 5,9. Though the amount of weight she has lost is remarkable, we have to wonder if now she is slightly underweight, due to her height.
Here were some of her words of food wisdom, which we all agree with.
1. Don’t eat that samosa. (you know what she means! Junk food)
2. Eat small meals, every two hours, instead of three big meals.
3. Stay away from refined foods. Eat lots of fruit and vegetables, and lean meats.
5. Cut down on caffeine and drink more water. Green tea has the caffeine you need, so switch from coffee.
6. Accept that there can be no excuse for straying from your regime.
7. Put on music and dance.
8. Recognise that there is no easy way.
9. Don’t be a lazy bum. You only need six hours of sleep. Get up and get moving.
10. Never be unhappy with who you are, but do see where there may be room for improvement.

Asda has created a little black dress that ”pinches the inches” and claims to take off about an inch and a half using ‘inch-pinching’ poly elastane technology employed in some control underwear or granny panties as Bridget Jones and many people call it. It works by way of panels placed across the hips, waist and bust as seen from their £28 ($47) dress and a £16 ($26) black skirt.
The 1950s style elastic corset wear is expected to be a popular item as 85% of women usually have tacked on about 2 to 3 pounds after the holidays and this states that it will smooth out the lumps and bumps ”without exercise”.
Asda also goes on to say that ”the human curve has come to represent the healthiest and most fertile form, highlighting the most suitable breeding partner and has evolved to be universally attractive to males for that reason” and that there’s ”there’s no need for women to slave away in the gym or diet to achieve the perfect shape as we should be celebrating our curves, not trying to get rid of them” because ”curves are back in fashion with the plus-size models on the rise”.
Ah what could have been a good temporary idea has failed in our eyes with the above ridiculous statements. Firstly, yes, it is said that wider hips supposedly remind men of fertility and we agree. We also love curvy or hour-glass figures. However, it seems that the brand director for George, Fiona Lambert is saying that exercising is for women who have self-esteem issues, who cannot accept their curves. Au contraire, my deluded Scroogy one, exercise is very important in daily life as well as a healthy diet. You should feel comfortable in your god given curves and body but you should know that you are healthy when you’re flaunting them not living a sedentary lifestyle and complaining that the world doesn’t accept you.
Also, comparing plus-size models to curvy is silly because plus-size models are not curvy as we have seen, they are big women. Marilyn Monroe was curvy. The Dove women are curvy but plus-size women are bigger than the average woman or at least what the average healthy woman should be.
So we’ll say that it’s not a new idea because corsets date back to hundreds of years but the dress could be used as a temporary feel-good curve dress. No one likes feeling uncomfortable in their clothes so we can say that it’s a bit of a self-confidence booster, which we like but we wouldn’t recommend it long-term.

Bobbi Brown went from make-up artist to cosmetic giant and wants you to feel like the woman you are. Pretty and Powerful!
“This past year with the economy becoming more challenging, I saw it as an opportunity to press the reset button and figure out what really makes sense to me. And I realized that all these women I know are so beautiful because of their confidence in what they know, and I want to celebrate that,” which is why she has launched the Pretty Powerful Campaign where she will show a range of looks in before and after pictures of friends who inspired her. ”Real women”
And the campaign starts next week where a multitude of photos with different looks will be shown from indie to retro to who knows!
But make-up as part of feeling powerful? How will fans participate? Well, on the 19th, ”fans can submit videos beautifying with their favorite Bobbi Brown products, and then 30 finalists will be sent a Must-Haves Makeup Kit and the Color Strips Collection – a springy mosaic of pinks, purples and earth tones that will launch in March – to create a video on how the collection makes them feel Pretty Powerful.”
If you don’t know James Bond make-upping, you can be a part of lady power by looking at the entries and voting on the final five finalists. For every vote, Brown has agreed to donate $1 to Dress for Success – a charity that provides underprivileged women with interview suits and guidance on starting a new career.
Powerful make-up is ”makeup that makes a woman feel confident, powerful and beautiful. Power is not shoulder pads, success or fame – it’s someone who feels comfortable in their skin.”
It’s good to feel good about yourself.

Bra colour status updating is the newest trend to hit the facebook waves. Updates such as, “White and black stripes… Pink flowers and light blue… Fuchsia leopard print…” rage the site, describing what colour women and even men are wearing underneath. Some just note the colour!
Though the real source of the trend has yet to be discovered, most sources point to breast cancer awareness as the cause for the colour reveal.
What a great idea! It’s good to see that Breast Cancer awareness is not relegated to the confines of the month of October (Breast Cancer Month) and as it is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in women today, it is very important to be aware.
For more information about Breast Cancer, click here or here
Update: There are two updates going around
We are playing a game…… silly, but fun! Write the colour of your bra as your status, just the colour, nothing else!! Copy this and pass it on to all girls/Females …… NO MEN!! This will be fun to see how it spreads, and we are leaving the men wondering why all females just have a colour as their status!! Let’s have fun!!
And this one, which we love
Some fun is going on…. just write the color of your bra in your status. Just the color, nothing else. It will be neat to see if this will spread the wings of breast cancer awareness. It will be fun to see how long it takes before people wonder why all the girls have a color in their status… Haha .

The Blind Side has made over 200 million dollars with a female lead at the helm for the first time. Though many have come close, no other woman has ever cracked it. Not Julia Roberts, Angelina Jolie, Reese Witherspoon or anyone else.
All hail Sandra!
January 6, 2010 at 18:33 (Lady Gaga, Lady Power!)
Some might say she’s an icon and some might say she’s certifiably insane but the one thing that is certain is that Stefani Germanotta better known by her stage name Lady Gaga is fearless and inspirational individual who overcame much to soar to where she is today.
In fact, she has made such an impact that she will be featured as a comic book hero in the first issue of the Fame series by Bluewater Publishing. We suppose naming the book Lady Gaga would have been too obvious.
You can expect to see the first issue of the ‘culturally relevant’ celebrity comics on May 5, with Lady Gaga as the first to grace its cover. In future, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Swift, David Beckham and 50 Cent will receive this honour (Quel joie! minus Fiddy) .
The appropriateness of Gaga becoming a comic hero is just as she does have the costumes for it.
On a personal level, Lady Gaga describes her performances as part of her evolution as an artist, writer and woman
“I feel I’ve evolved so much.”
We think so too.

Film-maker Sam Taylor-Wood, 42, pregnant with 19-year-old Aaron Johnson, her fiancé.
43-year-old former England footballer Teddy Sheringham and 23-year-old Kristina Andriotis
While Sam Taylor-Wood is credited with directed the John Lennon biopic, Teddy Sheringham was known for footballing.
Would you classify these two as desperate, having found love with people more than 20 years younger than themselves? They have had previous relationships where children have resulted from both so did these unsuccessful relationships contribute to their dating someone younger?
Another way to look at this is looking at an older woman dating a younger man versus an older man dating a younger woman.
Why do we look with more scrutiny upon women?

Jude Law‘s ex-wife Sadie Frost posed nude sans photoshop for Grazia Magazine as a protest against the airbrush happy. Excluding two bruises on her leg, none of this photo has been retouched. The great thing about this picture is that Sadie Frost’s body resembles that of the ‘normal every-day’ people in comparison to this. She is also 40+ and has had 4 children.

We can’t help it. We tried to forget about it but it’s kinda fun even though it is about alcohol and partying and some random guy..big surprise.Oh and how can we forget lyrics like I’m gunna have you drunk and throwing up lol
Paradiso Girls, the artists above are also created by Robin Antin, creator of the Pussycat Dolls. The difference is they seem to have a good group dynamic, they all sing and there’s a higher representation of women with colour.
There is only one American in the group (Remember Chelsea from Search For the Next Doll?) while everyone else is British or French.
Diverse! You even get to hear a hint of a French accent when Aria sings.

A few days ago, it was reported that Jennifer Hawkins stripped down for this month’s issue of Australia’s Marie Claire. The photo is said to be completely un-retouched or photo-shopped. The photo was taken to promote a natural woman’s self-image so that when people do pick up a magazine, they know what they are looking at is real.
While not everyone looks like Jennifer Hawkins, she defends herself saying that she is not a stick figure but perhaps that this picture can influence other people who appear on magazines to opt for taking a real picture au lieu of an illustrated one.
Jennifer’s picture, however will be put to further good use as it will also be auctioned to raise money for eating disorders support groups.
Change comes in increments.
Maybe one day the Dove women will be put onto front covers like that.
