Tyra Banks really does seem to have the welfare of young women at heart. She has announced the launch of the Fiercely Real Teen Model Search contest that will feature ‘average sized’ young women aged from 13 to 19, between the heights of 5′ 9″ and 6′ 1″.
Tyra explains, “I’ve always felt it was my mission to expand the narrow perceptions of beauty; through America’s Next Top Model, True Beauty and The Tyra Show I challenge industry and universal standards by featuring and celebrating non-traditional beauty, and stressing that true beauty is both inside and out. Plus-sized tends to have a negative connotation and I want young girls to realize that what’s considered plus-sized is the average American woman. That woman is healthy, fit and beautiful. Adolescence is such an impressionable time in a young woman’s life, and I hope this contest helps teen girls discover their own beauty from the inside out.”
The only qualm we have with this is that the ”average American woman” is allegedly 5,4 and 164lbs and growing. So, when we tell young impressionable women that plus-size is who they are and who the rest of American society is, isn’t that promoting obesity? Shouldn’t we give them examples of women who are ”healthy and fit” of every height?
How can any woman feel beautiful with Supermodel thin and Plus-size obesity as options?

We wish you luck but remember, be healthy. A beautiful body is one that should never be abused.

This pretty face above is Bree Candon, a former model for Guess who was also ”just looking for Mr. Right” on SeekingMillionaire.com, a dating website. Yet, it appears it wasn’t her at all. In fact, it was someone named James Brown. He not only impersonated her, using her image and personal information about her family and siblings but then, he extracted money from wealthy unsuspecting individuals citing that ”she” lost her luggage among other reasons.
This went on undetected for two years as Brown made dates and broke them with these men until he engaged in online and telephone conversations with John Carbona, a wealthy investor in Fort Meyers, FL. He attempted to try the same money extracting tactics he had used before saying ”she” needed money because “she” had lost her luggage and was in a financial bind. Carbona suspected that something was up and hired a Private Eye who traced Brown to Austin, Texas and found that he had swindled thousands from his wealthy ”prospectives”, a little dog, iPhone and $15,000 from a very well-off Miami doctor.
Brown is now in the big house enjoying the fun and joy that comes with felony theft charges.
Have fun in jail!

It’s amazing how the simplicity of a smile in photographs can be more beautiful than any silly over-make-upped girl.

Brilliant name. We like how the name Devon can be used androgynously but what is this contraption they made her wear?

La Femme features Agyness Deyn with short dark hair for February 2010. She’s like Jennifer Garner in Alias. She can pull off anything.
God we hate (and love her) so jealously.

V Magazine has released their size issue where they say V Love U Just The Way U R, which does not seem to translate in their pictures showing that it too has succumbed to the Hollywood Beast, painting pictures of thin scarecrow women contrasting them with their extreme plus-size opposites, instead of showing real women who are HEALTHY. Also, where is the cultural representation they speak of?
Is it this or this?
Most of these plus-size models seem more at health risk than fierce frenzy and the ”tall, thin, short, curvy, whoever you are” in V Magazine? We don’t think so
This is the picture WE want to paint. We have illustrated a picture of health, culture and couleur so we asked some of the beautiful Maverick Femmes we know to share their pictures with us and offer something that V definitely did NOT.
Stay tuned for more updates ;)

Models are not like fine wine, which is what Heidi Klum affirms in a recent interview.
“Models have a sell-by date. There are certain jobs I don’t do anymore, like the young, sexy, cute things for teenagers, or even 25-year-old girls. I go in a different bracket now”
An entrepreneurial $16 million bracket, we’d say (estimated by Forbes in 2009) especially with Project Runway under her belt. She acts as host, judge and executive producer for the reality show, which is on its seventh season.
We think Heidi will always be fine wine. To see more of the inspirational mother of 4, pick up Instyle today!

Lindsay Ellingson appears in the new behind-the-scenes video of the topless bikini photoshoot. So far, they have enlisted Michael Bay at the helm of their last lingerie commercial. For this swimwear line, now you don’t even need the top half.
Maybe they are catering to those who need something to help them show off their birthday goods at European beaches? or Is this meant to eliminate tan lines (which can’t happen since the ”swimsuit” has strings!)
Would you want to wear a topless bikini?

Surprise! Yet another preview of the Size Issue from V before it hits the newsstands Jan 14 However, in the newly released photographs by Terry Tsiolis, we see a wide range of sizes and ages AND colour, which we prefer to stick and big-boned comparisons.
The tag line reads “Tall, thin, short, curvy, punk, prep, dom, deb. Whoever you are and whoever you want to be, we’re with you all the way” We don’t know what deb is but it sounds…

January 8, 2010 at 14:48 (Advertisement Intrigue, Angelina Jolie, Couture & Controversy, Designers, Models)
Angelina Jolie is now the former spokesmodel for St John, the fashion knitwear giant, and has been replaced with firey red-head model Karen Elson, who took a ”nose dive off the stage at the British Fashion Awards, WWD reports.”
St. John CEO Glenn McMahon told WWD “We wanted to make a clean break from actresses and steer away from blondes and cleanse the palette.”
“We needed to show a modern point of view of St. John. We have evolved.”
Evolved or over it?
Interesting as McMahon himself told the source that Angelina was not all too content with dresses she was given to wear at red carpet events and ”overshadowed the brand.” Guess that means they weren’t too happy with each other in the end.
Elson does light up the page though, doesn’t she? Love the red

How many previews of this issue are there going to be? Come out with it already! The above images are done by Karl Lagerfeld and he decide to take part in the highly-discussed plus-size issue for V. And despite what he has been quoted as saying, he was probably the best to take these. We prefer these in fact to this
Her pasties do remind us of something in a Dita Von Teese show though. We do love the accessories though!
