Alexander McQueen was found dead in his apartment today following the death of his mother the week before. It is speculated that his death was a suicide but there is no conclusive evidence and no foul play is suspected. The passing of Alexander McQueen has left a vast hole in the fashion industry as his revolutionary and seemingly theatre-inspired shows were the reason behind why the British fashion scene was revived.
An inspiration and artist is gone.

Makes you think where designers find the inspiration for amazing dresses like these. In actuality, these were part of Viktor and Rolf’s Spring 2010 runway. Personally, we like the delicate layering and strong lines. It gives an overall picture of innovation and individuality to each piece.
It’s like Alice In Wonderland meets Edward Scissorhands!

Miuccia Prada is collaborating with Chinese artist Yang Fudong to use some artistic elements with the launch of her new line. The name of the film is First Spring and was presented in Milan for the fall winter 2010 men’s fashion week.

Ok, well in a way he did. He actually opened his new Milan boutique Marc by Marc Jacobs WITH a café.
The designer store is designed with navy concrete floors, blue steel shelves and neon signage all in the essence of Marc by Marc Jacobs. Stephan Jaklitsch, the architect for the 3,100 square foot boutique also installed a sliding blue glass door connecting to the café.
The boutique will open at Piazza del Carmine 6 in Milan’s Brera district and will offer Marc’s ready-to-wear and accessories, perfume and sunglasses, and branded trinkets and gadgets. Café o Jacob will be open from 7:30am to 2am accommodating the early birds and the night owls.
Caffeine and Clothes, is there a deeper addiction? Italy has nice weather right now. We think we should all go, first stop, Jacob’s Café!

Jean Paul Gaultier has slightly changed the look of his signature busty perfume bottle but it remains the same with the addition of an ”X”. The perfume called Le Classique will be available as soon as next month. In what is described as a concoction of feminine notes (who knows) mandarin and orange tree flowers, the X Collection promises sensual and sexy in its alluring odeur.
The eau de toilette Jean Paul Gaultier « Classique » X collection will be on sale for 90€ ($134,8) for 100ml and 63€ ($94.3) for 50ml.
We don’t know we’ve never had their eau but it sounds like it’s going to be sweet and fruity.
You know, the X kinda reminds us of X-men now that we think of it.

For Versace Spring 2010
Controversial Hudson Jeans Ad
She is only 17 and already she’s been on the cover of November’s Vogue and chosen as Model of the Year at Britain’s Fashion Awards last month. Now she has been chosen to head the Versace campaign for their newest collection.
Donatella Versace said of Georgia, “She’s smart, a strong personality, beautiful, full of energy… and with that natural high star quality, I adore her. She’s perfect for this collection – a real Versace girl.”
The shoot was done in November by Mario Testino with photos set to released next month in February.
What we have heard about Mick Jagger and Supermodel Jerry Hall’s daughter is that she is in fact, quite intelligent and very school-oriented.
Perhaps but though we don’t doubt she is a pretty face to look at….seems kinda racy for a 17-year-old

Let’s not get melodramatic. They have only closed their Madison Avenue New York location and will continue to trade from their 2003 opened Manhattan flagship at 3 East 57th Street. However, sadly the Madison Avenue had welcomed the ends of other fashion stores of Alessandro Dell’Acqua, Miu Miu and Juicy Couture stores two years ago.
How many more will bite the proverbial dust, we wonder?

Surprise! Yet another preview of the Size Issue from V before it hits the newsstands Jan 14 However, in the newly released photographs by Terry Tsiolis, we see a wide range of sizes and ages AND colour, which we prefer to stick and big-boned comparisons.
The tag line reads “Tall, thin, short, curvy, punk, prep, dom, deb. Whoever you are and whoever you want to be, we’re with you all the way” We don’t know what deb is but it sounds…
What we have noticed in these images are some unique clothes and some familiar…Alexander…so in case you were wondering about the models, make-up and who they are wearing, read below! (We think we might like this issue!)

Angelina Jolie is now the former spokesmodel for St John, the fashion knitwear giant, and has been replaced with firey red-head model Karen Elson, who took a ”nose dive off the stage at the British Fashion Awards, WWD reports.”
St. John CEO Glenn McMahon told WWD “We wanted to make a clean break from actresses and steer away from blondes and cleanse the palette.”
“We needed to show a modern point of view of St. John. We have evolved.”
Evolved or over it?
Interesting as McMahon himself told the source that Angelina was not all too content with dresses she was given to wear at red carpet events and ”overshadowed the brand.” Guess that means they weren’t too happy with each other in the end.
Elson does light up the page though, doesn’t she? Love the red

This is a sneak peek at Louise Goldin‘s first shoe collection for Topshop available in….February. Triste, we know. The to-die-for stiletto-esque shoes designed with spikes in mini and crystals come in cream, noir and rose. As replicas from her spring/summer 2010 collection, it’s not a wonder that they are a little chèr at £150 (
$250 $300 $275?)
But they’re soo pretty!
