Paris On The Body Scanner Train

Très bon la France!

France follows after Canada, the Netherlands and Britain in their support for the installment of the controversial body scanners. Controversial since not many are comfortable having their privacy invaded in being seen naked. You can all thank the moron who is currently pleading not guilty.

The scanners will be introduced later this month to scan passengers and will be used on all flights leaving Charles de Gaulle airport with the intended destination of the United States.

It may not be your fault for the introduction of the personal space-invading scanners but for the moment, it seems the best thing that anyone’s come up with.

5 New Planets Discovered?

Using the Keplar telescope, scientists have uncovered 5 more planets on top of this one.

The Kepler was launched in 2009 in the hopes of locating planets close-by to Earth and all the ‘new’ ones are located quite near-by and orbit very close to their stars it appears. They also appear to be extremely high heat-wise because of their close proximity to their stars as Kepler science team leader William Borucki of NASA’s Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, California said.

We may be in our own version of Star Trek quite soon since the Keplar mission forges on in the discovery of other planets! We wouldn’t mind meeting a Wookie or an Ewok. We would just hope not to meet the aliens from Independence Day or Mars Attacks. *Shudder*

Story of Michael Oher From A Year Ago!

Oh CBS. You are wonderful.

The best part of the story is Leanne Tuohy’s simply saying, ”Michael needed to be loved I hugged him for a year before he ever hugged me back and I think that was the first time in his life that he knew in his heart that somebody loved him for him”

Ps. Collins Tuohy is gorgeous.
Pps. Go see The Blind Side. We liked it even more than Precious!

The Blind Side Is A Shining Beacon Of Light

The Tuohy Family

Michael Oher

The Tuohy‘s are the family that inspired the film The Blind Side. Even if this family is considerably affluent, there is nothing in the film or in interviews that would suggest that they possess anything other than the brightest hearts of gold.

The story of Michael Oher is heart-breaking, inspirational and uplifting. Not often have we seen church-going people or families depicted in films except in a fanatical or hypocritical light. Here, we are introduced to a family that accepted this boy with no family, support or connections and made him a part of their family.

Leanne, Michael’s adoptive mother does say that certain artistic liberties were taken in certain scenes but that their story is true. The only criticism Michael would admit however, was that he was depicted as a ”babe in the woods” in reference to his football skills, something he says is not true. Haha!

Now, he is an offensive lineman for the Baltimore Ravens and if you’ve seen his plays, he is clearly NOT a babe in the woods but a ”bully with a nasty streak” when described by others.

Good job Fox News (finally)

Bobbi Brown’s ‘Pretty Powerful’ Campaign

Bobbi Brown went from make-up artist to cosmetic giant and wants you to feel like the woman you are. Pretty and Powerful!

“This past year with the economy becoming more challenging, I saw it as an opportunity to press the reset button and figure out what really makes sense to me. And I realized that all these women I know are so beautiful because of their confidence in what they know, and I want to celebrate that,” which is why she has launched the Pretty Powerful Campaign where she will show a range of looks in before and after pictures of friends who inspired her. ”Real women”

And the campaign starts next week where a multitude of photos with different looks will be shown from indie to retro to who knows!

But make-up as part of feeling powerful? How will fans participate? Well, on the 19th, ”fans can submit videos beautifying with their favorite Bobbi Brown products, and then 30 finalists will be sent a Must-Haves Makeup Kit and the Color Strips Collection – a springy mosaic of pinks, purples and earth tones that will launch in March – to create a video on how the collection makes them feel Pretty Powerful.”

If you don’t know James Bond make-upping, you can be a part of lady power by looking at the entries and voting on the final five finalists. For every vote, Brown has agreed to donate $1 to Dress for Success – a charity that provides underprivileged women with interview suits and guidance on starting a new career.

Powerful make-up is ”makeup that makes a woman feel confident, powerful and beautiful. Power is not shoulder pads, success or fame – it’s someone who feels comfortable in their skin.”

It’s good to feel good about yourself.

Karen Elson Replaces Angelina Jolie in St. John Ad Campaign

Angelina Jolie is now the former spokesmodel for St John, the fashion knitwear giant, and has been replaced with firey red-head model Karen Elson, who took a ”nose dive off the stage at the British Fashion Awards, WWD reports.”

St. John CEO Glenn McMahon told WWD “We wanted to make a clean break from actresses and steer away from blondes and cleanse the palette.”

“We needed to show a modern point of view of St. John. We have evolved.”

Evolved or over it?

Interesting as McMahon himself told the source that Angelina was not all too content with dresses she was given to wear at red carpet events and ”overshadowed the brand.” Guess that means they weren’t too happy with each other in the end.

Elson does light up the page though, doesn’t she? Love the red

Bra Colour Status Updates Spreading Like Wildfire on Facebook

Bra colour status updating is the newest trend to hit the facebook waves. Updates such as, “White and black stripes… Pink flowers and light blue… Fuchsia leopard print…” rage the site, describing what colour women and even men are wearing underneath. Some just note the colour!

Though the real source of the trend has yet to be discovered, most sources point to breast cancer awareness as the cause for the colour reveal.

What a great idea! It’s good to see that Breast Cancer awareness is not relegated to the confines of the month of October (Breast Cancer Month) and as it is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in women today, it is very important to be aware.

For more information about Breast Cancer, click here or here

Update: There are two updates going around

This one

We are playing a game…… silly, but fun! Write the colour of your bra as your status, just the colour, nothing else!! Copy this and pass it on to all girls/Females …… NO MEN!! This will be fun to see how it spreads, and we are leaving the men wondering why all females just have a colour as their status!! Let’s have fun!!

And this one, which we love
Some fun is going on…. just write the color of your bra in your status. Just the color, nothing else. It will be neat to see if this will spread the wings of breast cancer awareness. It will be fun to see how long it takes before people wonder why all the girls have a color in their status… Haha .

Chanel To Sell Temporary Tattoos

Developed by creative director Peter Phillips, the tattoos boast interesting designs with the Chanel logo and seem as if they could be put anywhere!

On March 1, there are fifty-five different designs will be released, packaged under the name of Les Trompe L’Oeil de Chanel that will be available online and in international department stores such as Selfridges for $75

For $75 dollars, we don’t think so but they are kinda interesting.

Sita Sings The Blues

Sita from the Ramayana is finally gaining some international fame. The New York Times calls Sita an Indian Betty Boop while “Roger Ebert gives it two thumbs up”.

Directed/Created by Nina Paley, this version of Ram and Sita (it’s a Hindu folktale where he’s a prince, has married Sita but then is exiled for 12 or 14 years during which they meet antagonist Ravana and monkey god Hanuman, you’re welcome) varies from the original in its blues musical attitude shown throughout the film. It acts more as an homage to the story than an actual re-telling. It is illustrated with the most striking details and re-told in the most interesting of ways. Though Nina Paley says that the failing relationship between Rama and Sita was what attracted her to the story as this mirrored her own life, this differs from the actual story where they remain together and finally rule the kingdom together as king and queen.

There really is some lovely blues music and an interesting interpretative animation that makes the film a pleasure to watch.

As the film is only funded through donations do take the time to go visit their site.

Note: It is a slightly exaggerated version of the old story, a bit more melodramatic than usual
