Sofia Vergara and Halle Berry, among others including actresses Lisa Edelstein of “House” and “The Good Wife” actress Julianna Margulies were in attendance at the charity auction of the Swarovski Element sponsored 22 designer “little black dresses” to raise awareness and funds for both the American Cancer Society and its French counterpart, La ligue nationale contre le cancer.

Both Halle and Sofia have been affected by cancer. Halle, losing several people over the last few years and Sofia, suffering through it thyroid cancer herself. Vergara says a positive attitude was the key to beating the disease. “One of the most important things is not to think too much about it, not to dwell on it, not to question ‘why me?,You just have to wake up every day and do what you’re suppose to do, and try to fight it. Thinking too much will make you depressed and not give you the power to fight it.”

The part the “little black dress” played in the evening was timeless and exquisite as each one, as donated by various designers made their own versions of the dress with Swarovski elements as pictured above.

It’s a sad reality to face when we lose someone to anything but it’s always important to never give up hope for a cause.

This came as quite a surprise since there seems not to have been much publicity for this other than Jude Law….but it raises a few questions. Even though the goal of having ‘Peace One Day’ is valid, will global cease-fire and independence ever truly be achieved for the one day? This seems more borne out of wishful thinking than critical thinking. How would this be able to be ensured? Would someone enforce it? or would we depend on the goodness of ‘the people’?

If we could organize a process in which to donate to these war-torn countries where peace is most inevitably needed, that could be a more realistic goal for the moment. There seems never to be enough publicity for what is important. This shouldn’t have only been on Youtube. It should have been on one of the many social networks that we have access to in this day and age.

Coca Cola fashion! No, not really but it is clothing that sprays out of a can. It’s called Fabrican Spray-On Fabric and the reason it has been created is for all those who can never get clothing tight enough or to fit ‘just right’! The idea comes from Imperial College London researchers and a company called Fabrican.

The couture sprays out by use of aerosol technology, which ‘creates a thin layer of light, textured, nonwoven fibers that have the look of interconnected snowflakes.’

What’s even more amazing is that ‘the sprayed fabric can be peeled off, washed, worn again, perfumed, and even decorated to create patterns’. Almost hard to believe it can do that considering that it comes out of a can and vaguely resembles silly string. In any case, it sounds interesting!

I realize it has been a while since my last submission, however, this was too interesting. Lady Gaga pushes the envelope of fashion while maintaining her provocative yet humourous nature. You might not see the humour but you have to appreciate the originality and revolutionizing of music video concept. It is also, I might add, the best I have seen Beyoncé at. Notice my use of ‘I’? I have decided to implement this since I would like a more personal touch on things.

Ingredients:

Directions:

In a large bowl, combine chicken broth with 3 cups ice. Add chicken; chill 1 hour.

Meanwhile, in a resealable bag, combine bread crumbs, flour, salt, cayenne, oregano, garlic, parsley, and pepper; shake.

Preheat oven to 400°F. Coat a large baking sheet with vegetable or olive oil spray; set aside.

Place yogurt in a medium bowl. Remove chicken from broth. One piece at a time, dip chicken into yogurt, then place in bread crumb mixture and shake. Place breaded chicken on baking sheet. Spray tops of chicken with vegetable spray. Bake 45 to 50 minutes, until golden brown. Serve hot or at room temperature.

Shortly after winning his gold medal in speed skating, an NBC reporter asked Sven Kramer who he was and what he won. In reply, he said, “Are you stupid? I’m not gonna answer that.” Despite winning this medal, Kramer was unfounded in his comments to the reporter. The lack of politesse on behalf of this Olympic winner reflects a rude and pretentious individual. Even if he won this medal, to be honest, most have never heard his name.

He had just been named a Gold medalist in speed skating though and that is commendable but what kind of role model is he to look up to if he can’t keep a level head for something so trivial?

There must be something more to this film because Hindu Indians have begun rioting and defacing posters for the film. The aspect in which the film has chosen to portray Muslims seems to be the cause of the riots. However, among those opposed to the film, are those who say they didn’t mind the portrayal of Muslims.

The film attempts to change how Muslims are perceived. Yet, is it worth it to continue showing the film with enraged rioters and police being obliged to protect the theatres?

Alexander McQueen was found dead in his apartment today following the death of his mother the week before. It is speculated that his death was a suicide but there is no conclusive evidence and no foul play is suspected. The passing of Alexander McQueen has left a vast hole in the fashion industry as his revolutionary and seemingly theatre-inspired shows were the reason behind why the British fashion scene was revived.

An inspiration and artist is gone.

Over the last few days, there have been persistent rumours that naked body scan images of Shah Rukh Khan were printed and distributed among a few female airport staff. As Shah Rukh Khan passed through the scanner,  the women were giggling over the pictures, which were said to be very revealing. Then, Shah Rukh approached the women to find out what they were looking at. Upon discovering they were photos of him, he was amused and signed them.

However, despite the fact this appears to be an interesting tale, the rumours are false. Apparently, images cannot be printed from the body scanners even though Shah Rukh himself attests to the story above as being valid. Most are unsure whether he was being playful or forthcoming.

Odd.

Wanda Sykes discussed NBC’s Black History Month menu commenting that, “It is Black History Month, that’s how they celebrate. New York City, you don’t have to know about Harriet Tubman, here is chicken.” She has a point. If that is the only way they are celebrating, it doesn’t really ‘celebrate’ anything. Black History Month is meant to be a solemn reminder of the past whereas food doesn’t really remind anyone of anything except, well, food. It also presents a stereotype, in that, all black people care about is food and to be honest, who would want to be defined by the food they eat?

During a news broadcast, banker David Kiely of MacQuarie Bank was shown looking at nude and scantily-clad photos from Miranda Kerr’s recent GQ photoshoot. However, he was unaware that his indiscretions were being filmed live on television. His employers are not happy, to say the least and are contemplating the termination of his employment. Supermodel Miranda Kerr, though, heard of the incident and has defended the banker.

”I am told there is a petition to save his job and of course I would sign it”, says Kerr.

Hopefully, the banker, with Kerr by his side will avoid further scrutiny and be allowed to save his job.

Michael Jackson’s former choreographer Travis Payne and dancers Daniel Celebre and Dres Reid went to Filipino, Philippines and taught the “Dancing Inmates” from Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC), a maximum security prison, dance moves from MJ’s This Is It tour for the song They Don’t Really Care About Us.
